Why Flows exists

Most time trackers are built for billing. They assume you already know what you're doing, that the work divides cleanly into projects and tasks, and that any minute you didn't log is a minute you're trying to hide. We got tired of that. The afternoon that disappears, the hour you meant to spend on email and somehow spent on Slack, the morning that simply went elsewhere. Those moments are most of a day, and a tracker built around guilt is the wrong tool for them.

Flows started as the app we wanted ourselves: one tap to switch what you're doing, an honest record of where the day went, and a built-in "Drifting" category so untracked time has a home instead of being a failure state. It's a mirror, not a manager.

Paul

Paul Stanton is a product and AI leader with over two decades in the industry, working at the intersection of AI, platform experience, and design systems. His background is in user experience and accessibility, shaped in complex public-sector delivery. That work taught him to value clarity, explainability, and tools that don't punish people for being human.

Joshua

Joshua is 15, the developer on the team, studying for his GCSEs alongside the work. Flows is the first real product he's shipped. He fits the work around school and life, which is part of why the app is built the way it is: with care, in real time you can actually see.

How we work

No VC, no growth team, no roadmap meetings. Two people, evenings and weekends, building an app at the pace of people who use it themselves. We talk about decisions in the kitchen. The pace is the point: Flows is meant to be a calm tool, and that's hard to make in a hurry.

We use Flows ourselves every day. If a feature doesn't survive a week of our own use, it doesn't ship.

• No streaks. No scores. The app doesn't tell you whether your day was good or bad. It tells you where it went.
